DGM formed in 1994 as a complete instrumental band. The original line-up featured Diego Reali on guitar, Maurizio Pariotti on keyboards and Gianfranco Tassella on drums, and after one year only Marco Marchiori (bass) joined the band. The live shows became at that point very frequent, and DGM appeared at the Rock Innovation Festival, where the band arrived 2nd out of 48 new musical talents. During this period they started working on their first official release, the self-produced mini CD ‘Random Access Zone’, featuring the just-recruited superb vocalist Luciano Regoli, former member of several seminal Italian Seventies prog-bands like Raccomandata Con Ricevuta Di Ritorno, Ritratto Di Dorian Gray and Samadhy. He was able to form his own personal style, mixing his "seventies mark" with the power vein of the band. The mini CD obtained a very high response in the whole power-speed metal scene, so the guys decided to produce their first full-length album. In the summer of ’97, the band completed working on ‘Change Direction’, that was out on November of the same year. The album received a great response not only in Italy but also in Germany, Finland, Denmark, etc. and the band started the first Italian tour ... In September ’98 DGM were back and focused the attention on the material for the comeback album. In that period, long-time partner Gianfranco and the band decided to part ways. The split was pretty amicable and that’s the reason why Gianfranco willingly accepted to collaborate as sound engineer, together with Daniele Conte, for the recording sessions of the new album. New drummer arrived in the person of Fabio Costantino, from the death metal band Carnal Rapthor. DGM entered the studio in January ’99 for the recording sessions of the incredible second album, titled ‘Wings Of Time’ ( Top album on the italian magazines Metal Shock, Flash and Metal Hammer). Only in Japan the album sold over 4000 copies after just 10 days and DGM was described as the European answer to DREAM THEATER and SYMPHONY X. The band was also contacted by BURRN! Magazine for an exclusive interview. During the year 2000 there were many changes in the DGM line-up; after years of cooperation DGM and Luciano Regoli decided to terminate their relationship in a friendly way with Marco Marchiori. Before the release of their fourth studio album, Titta Tani joined the band, becoming the new DGM singer after Luciano Regoli. 'Dreamland' saw the light in December 2001. This album obtained a great success in Italy and lots of other countries. In Spring DGM started looking for a new bass player and Andrea Arcangeli (River of Change and Concept) finally arrived in the late 2001. Many Italian dates followed. But new splits were coming... Unfortunately, after nine years of friendship, Maurizio Pariotti decided to leave the band for personal reasons. In the meantime, DGM were finally free from the deal with Elevate Records and a few months later a new one with SCARLET was inked. The songwriting process for the new album started with new keyboard player Fabio Sanges (Abstracta). Titta Tani also became the official drummer of two bands linked with a common taste for horror movies.... The US splatter-masters NECROPHAGIA and DAEMONIA, the new project of the Italian living legend Claudio Simonetti, ex-GOBLIN founder and author of Dario Argento’s most famous soundtracks.
But at that point, the new album was ready to come… 'Hidden Place' was recorded in Italy with the help of Giuseppe Orlando (NOVEMBRE) and mastered at Mastering Room, Sweden (In Flames, Soilwork, Meshuggah). This is still considered the best DGM album and displays their best songwriting, mixing power, aggression, class, melody and technique! Already licensed to Japanese label Marquee/Avalon, this album is a new step for DGM’s career, allowing them to participate at the GODS OF METAL Festival, sharing the stage with Whitesnake, Queensrяche, Motцrhead, Saxon, Destruction, Angra and many other metal legends. One year after the release of "Misplaced", it seemed that something was not working any more... Diego Reali decided to leave the band to follow other projects on his own and was replaced by Simone Mularoni, simply a genius of the six strings. Fabio Sanges decided to leave the band too... New keyboard player is now Emanuele Casali. And after months spent rehearsing with the new line-up, it's time for a new DGM album: 'Different Shapes'. This is an amazing mix of power-prog with great orchestration, melodic vocal lines, refined arrangements and astonishing guitar solos provided by the new guitar-hero Simone Mularoni! DGM has been already confirmed in 2 of the most important international metal festivals: GODS OF METAL (Italy) with HEAVEN AND HELL, DREAM THEATER, DIMMU BORGIR and PORCUPINE TREE among others and the PROG POWER USA! 2007 is undoubtedly DGM’s YEAR!!!!
