The core of this brand-new melodic metal outfit from Sweden consists of Robert Forse on vocals and Tobias Andersson on guitars and – contrary to what you might think – both musicians are not new to the rock/ metal scene. The former is known as singer from the bands Heads Or Tales and Afterglow, while the latter has played guitar on “Destination: Alive”, the last album of Seven Wishes. Four years ago they teamed up to write songs for a new band (now known as Shadowland) and that was a wise decision, because the quality of the songs on offer is ‘amazing’ to say the least. Recorded and produced at their very own Rose Valley Studios with the assistance of Magnus Jonsson (Damned Nation) on bass and Olle Rode’hn (Poseidon) on drums, their debut album “Falling” may easily be called a real find. Nine original songs plus a surprising cover of Toto’s “Don’t Chain My Heart” pass in review and amongst them I couldn’t spot a weak link. Other strengths of the band are the powerful vocals of Robert Forse (man, can he sing!) and the killer riffs of Toby Andersson.
This is the first release on Birgitt Schwanke’s (Rock It!) GerMusica label and I can only hope that more albums of this high quality will follow later. So, congratulations to both Shadowland and Birgitt for bringing us such a nice piece of melodic metal!
