Without a doubt, SACRED REICH is an institution when it comes to the FOUNDING BANDS OF MODERN THRASH METAL. Their debut album „IGNORANCE“ is an iconic release in the history of THRASH. But before this historical record hit the world, let's go back to where it all started in 1985. The first demo tape “Draining you of life” was recorded in late 1985. Back then a guy named Dan was in the band and scheduled to sing, but he was sick and couldn't make it. LEGENDARY FRONTMAN Phil Rind, having written all the lyrics anyway, was the only one with a chance of nailing it! Well, he did, and the rest is SACRED REICH history! This tape featured original lead guitar player Jeff Martinek. He was replaced by Wiley Arnett soon after. Shortly after its release, the tape was noticed by Metal Blade Records. Brian Slagel wanted them for his 8th Edition of the “METAL MASSACRE” compilation. “Ignorance” was the first song written in the legendary line-up and featured on the compilation. Seeing the success of this compilation and the potential of the band, Brian Slagel signed SACRED REICH right away.

In 1987 “IGNORANCE” hit the still young and growing Thrash Metal scene with a big booooom! With its top-notch production, crushing songs, heaviness and fierceness, it gained not only the attention of US fans. SACRED REICH became a worldwide institution within the following year. By the release of the “SURF NICARAGUA” EP, a very aggressive and political piece of music, SACRED REICH was unstoppable. The final step was done and alongside SLAYER, SACRED REICH became THE NAME IN THRASH METAL in the second half of the 80s scene, climaxing in the legendary DYNAMO FESTIVAL 89 in Europe.

This ESSENTIAL RE-ISSUE includes the original “IGNORANCE” album and the legendary “SURF NICARAGUA” EP, both completely remastered, plus demos, UNRELEASED SONGS, live recordings from the DYNAMO FESTIVAL 89 and very early interviews and videos!
