San Francisco based Progressive Rock outfit ENCHANT have gained a solid foothold on the European market garnered from a string of strong releases and high profile tours. The group was convened during 1989 by drummer Paul Craddick, guitarist Douglas Ott and keyboard player Michael Geimer. A series of demos ensued with Ott taking the lead vocal role before the band was brought up to strength in 1992 with the enlistment of bassist Ed Platt and former REVELATION and SPOONS vocalist Ted Leonard.
A deal was struck with the Dream Circle label for debut record 'A Blueprint Of Our World'. Material for this album would be laid down both in San Francisco and Liverpool, the British sessions produced by MARILLION guitarist Steve Rothery. Road work to promote the debut would see ENCHANT paired with touring partners JADIS for a string of European shows.
In 1995 the band switched labels to the Inside Out Music concern. ENCHANT contributed a cover of 'Changes' to the Mike Varney and Peter Morticelli compiled YES tribute album 'Tales From Yesterday', on Magna Carta Records, the same year and unveiled their sophomore record 'Wounded' in 1996.
ENCHANT supported DREAM THEATER then THRESHOLD in Europe during 1997. These dates would coincide with the release of the 'Time Lost…' album, a collection of outtakes and unreleased material. 1998's 'Break' would further the band's momentum with another round of European shows aligned with SPOCK'S BEARD and MARILLION. Inside Out Music issued the 'Tug Of War' album, produced by guitarist Doug Ott at his own Ottotorium Studios, in July 2003. Live work included European concerts, as part of the 'Inside Out 10th Anniversary', packaged with SPOCK'S BEARD that October.
The band recorded a double live album and DVD package on 13th March 2004 at the 'I-Musicast' in Oakland, California. In early 2005 it would be learned that Ted Leonard helped formulate a "Progressive supergroup" headed up by guitarist MICHAEL HARRIS with THRESHOLD keyboard player Richard West plus Rob Stankiewicz and Derek Blakely from HAJI'S KITCHEN.
