LUNATICA is a Symphonic Metal band assembled by rhythm guitar player Sandro D’Incau, keyboard player Alex Seiberl, guitarist Andy Leuenberger and drummer Ermes during November of 1998. The band's formative rhythm section comprised bassist Beat Brack and drummer Ermes Di Prisco. Enrolling singer Andrea Datwyler of MESCARBONIC, and Evelyn und Sandra as secondary vocalists, the group cut a debut album, entitled 'Atlantis', in 2001. Bassist Emilio MG Barrantes is also ex-MESCARBONIC and also holds credits with SHREDMASTER and TIBURON.
Their performance at the 'Metaldayz' festival earned the title of "Best newcomer award". The band signed to the Italian Frontiers label for their second album, 'Fables & Dreams' recorded with producer Sascha Paeth, released in October 2004. LUNATICA forged a union with MOB RULES and DOMAIN for the 'Melodic Metal Alliance' tour of Europe in May 2005.
The band returned in August 2006 with the album 'The Edge Of Infinity' for Frontiers Records, scoring a number 78 chart placing in Switzerland. Notably the group worked with external songwriters such as Carl Falk and Sebastian Thott, known for their success in the Pop field. Studio contributions came courtesy of OLIVER HARTMANN, on 'EmOcean', and ex-ASIA singer John Payne, featuring on ' Song For You', whilst Dieter Meier of YELLO contributed narration. In side activity, Andrea Datwyler guested on Daniele Liverani's GENIUS epic 'The Final Surprise'.
