Promising Toronto Power Metal band EIDOLON have made serious headway on mainland Europe where the genre commands high album sales and live audiences. EIDOLON, centred upon the sibling Drover duo of guitarist Glen and drummer Shawn, dates back to 1993. Initially EIDOLON was a purely instrumental Metal studio endeavour but would evolve into a fully fledged band, adding singer Brian Soulard, second guitarist Slav Siminic and bassist Criss Bailey, for the recording of debut album 'Zero Hour'. Although the album was self financed its undoubted quality assured distribution throughout the world.
With the departure of Siminic EIDOLON knuckled down to craft a follow up album, the conceptual 'Seven Spirits' released in 1997. Shortly after the album emerged Bailey decamped. He would soon be replaced by Adrian Robichaud. In the midst of recording the group's third effort 'Nightmare World' EIDOLON signed a deal with Metal Blade Records.
During 2001 EIDOLON returned to the studio embarking on a fourth album 'Hallowed Apparition'. Soulard would make way for new vocalist Pat Mulock, also an active member of Heavy Metal act RAMPAGE.
EIDOLON gained some international recognition as guitarist, Glen Drover was handpicked by KING DIAMOND to play on his 'House Of God' album. The band's fifth CD 'Coma Nation' was released in April 2002. KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque (a.k.a. Anders Allhage) contributed two lead guitar breaks to EIDOLON's 2003 album 'Apostles Of Defiance'.
EIDOLON shifted shape once again during December of 2003. Working on a new album entitled 'Dimension Infinite' the Drover brother had dispensed with singer Pat Mulock and would set up a studio band with members of Norwegian band PAGAN'S MIND, singer Nils. K. Rue, bassist Steinar Krokmo and keyboard player Ronny Tegner.
The band signed a new international label deal with Escapi Records in August of 2004, recording drum tracks in October at Los Angered Recording in Gothenburg and guitar and bass at Eclipse Recording in Toronto. Announced for inclusion would be a cover of 'The Oath' by MERCYFUL FATE, with Michael Denner playing guest solos. September saw the announcement that Glen Drover had entered the big league by joining MEGADETH. By October, Shawn Drover too had enrolled into MEGADETH. Commitments with the Dave Mustaine led Thrash titans took the pair through a world tour lasting until October of 2005.
EIDOLON recordings for the album 'The Parallel Otherworld' resumed that Autumn, the sessions seeing Nils. K. Rue handling vocals with guest guitar solos included by the MERCYFUL FATE and FORCE OF EVIL duo of Hank Shermann and Michael Denner plus Michael Romeo of SYMPHONY X. Former FATES WARNING guitarist Frank Aresti also lent a solo to the track 'Parable'.
