Experimental Chicago Jazz Metal band. Their 2000 debut album would be promoted by US dates opening for CANDIRIA and BURNT BY THE SUN prior to jumping onboard the 'Vans Warped' tour. Follow up 'Way Of The Dead' emerged via Century Media in 2002. YAKUZA supported OPETH and LACUNA COIL in North America during May of 2003. Bassist Eric Clark parted ways with the band in February of 2004, the band installing Brett Bamberger of THE POSTMAN SYNDROME for live dates. The band worked with producer Matt Bayles on new recordings at at Volume Studios in Chicago during February 2005. Studio guests included pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm plus MASTODON's Sanford Parker and Troy Sanders. YAKUZA signed to Prosthetic Records in September for the album 'Samsara'. During 2005 Lamont joined forces with former members of Chicago Death Metal band CORPSE VOMIT, vocalist / guitarist Matt McClelland, guitarist Pat Clancy, bass player Mike Dooley, also of CINERARY, and drummer Garrett Scanlon, to forge IBEX.
