AT VANCE was formed in 1998 by Olaf Lenk - already well known as a very virtuous guitar player recording solo projects and as a member of Metal bands like VELVET VIPER and the progressive Metal project CENTERS - and Oliver Hartmann - known before as the singer of CENTERS. After the first demo recordings, the line-up was completed with Rainald Konig on the 2nd guitar, 19 year old drummer Spoony, Ulli Muller on keyboards and Jochen Schnur on bass guitar.
After the release of "Only Human" Ulli Muller and Jochen Schnur left the Band due personal problems. The Bass part was replaced by Sascha Feldmann. Olaf is gonna take care for the Keys from now on.
The Band was touring with Rhapsody and Angel Dust in 2002. After finishing the tour the Band started to work on the next album. By that time Olli Hartmann told the Band that he wants to leave because he didn't enjoy touring as much as the others did.
At Vance found a new singer with Mats Leven ( former Yngwie Malmsteen ) who easily replaced the old singer with his fantastic powerful voice.
They produced the new album "The Evil In You" with lots of emotion and freshness. In 2003 they were live on Tour with Kamelot across Europe.
After finishing the touring and live activities Olaf decided again to make some more line up changes. Continuing with only one guitar for the live presentation Sascha Feldmann was also replaced with John ABC Smith ( ex- Gallows Pole ) as a bass player/ backup vocalist. Due all this line up changes Olaf decided to take it more slowly for the rest of 2003.
In early 2004 he started writing new material for the next album and started the recording in fall 2004. The Drums where taken over by Franco Zuccaroli ( ex-Zed Yago & ex- Velvet Viper ) who's been a long time friend from Olaf and helped them out during the last tour.
Although Olaf really loved to have Franco has a full member with At Vance and for the upcoming tour with Brainstorm it couldn't be organized with some of the other musical activities Franco's involved at the moment.
There has been a lot of rumours going on but it's not sure yet who's gonna take over his part live even thou there have been some wellknown drummers asking for the drummerslot in At Vance which again proves the well known and rising power of the band.
The new AT VANCE album is entitled "Chained" and will have very good sound (mix: Achim Kohler a.o. Primal Fear, Brainstorm; mastering: Mika Jussila FINNVOX Studios/Helsinki).
