This album is 80s classic Power Metal with American sound at its best!
Mystic Prophecy know no mercy and show that they are even able to gain intensity and strength of their last album „Regressus" which was adored by the press and got very good reviews. Strong choruses and hooklines as well as tricky rhythms and fascinating soli make the album being a jewel in Power Metal. Besides this, they have also increased their share in Thrash elements, the album is harsher and faster than the last album.
The opening song "Burning bridges" is a thrashy uptempo song with a strong hymnal voice in the chorus and accustomed superb soli guitars in two voices that hover above solid, continous double-bass attacks. Then "Time Will Tell" follows, another fast and agressive song, in which you get scared by Lia’s voice that impends to be willing to revenge and the guitars are even more aggressive. "Dust Of Evil" is more a heaving and groovy song but is soon swept away by the fast and aggressive "In Hell" where a choir shouts in the chorus and Gus G.`s guitar shows you where you belong if not playing the air guitar right now! „Never surrender" is a ballad that stands surprisingly in the middle of the album for creating a break for your neck. It gives you the creeps and makes it difficult not to surrender or at least take a bow to Lia’s voice. Double-bass parts and groovy verses change in "Warriors of Lies" as well as a catchy hookline that culminates in aggressive shouting just to be soothed by a calm whispering part and a mystic female backing voice.
With this album, a musical and lyrical triology has been finished. The story is about a monk that is sentenced to burn at the stake because of heresy. In "Vengeance" the monk takes his revenge to his tormentors by haunting them in their dreams and finally drive them mad and make them kill themselves. All songs in "Regressus" tell little murder storys. The monk returns incarnate and kills the decendants of his tormentors. In "Never Ending" finally the monk?s revengefullness is satisfied, the four horsemen come for him and tear him into four pieces for burying him at all four cardinal points. But is this really the end of the story? A curse by god should give him eternal immortality as he was the soldier who stabbed Jesus nailed to the cross…
Mystic Prophecy can be called an all-star band, as all musicians are already well-known in the metal-genre. The popular Greek guitar phenom Gus G. plays in the Swedish Power Metal band Dream Evil as well as in the Greek Death Metal formation Nightrage and the US Power Metal band Firewind, drummer Dennis Ekdahl in Raise Hell. The band also features the former Stormwitch bass player Martin Albrecht. The rough and strong but melodic voice of R. D. Liapakis, also frontman of the Progressive Metal band Valley`s Eve is besides the guitar wizardry of Gus G. one of the highlights of the band. As Mystic Prophecy’s line up is held steady, it`s a band and no side project. They showed strong live-performances on their successful tour with Death Angel, Disbelief, Mnemic and Darkane and Wacken Open Air 2004.
"Never-Ending" was produced by R. D. Liapakis himself, who also produced bands like David Chastain, Jack Starr’s Guardians of the Flame, Magic Kingdom, Inner Wish and Dungeon. The cover was created by Jan Meininghaus, who also designed the artwork for Brainstorm, Crack up and many more. At the same time with the album, the new video to the song „Burning Bridges will be coming your way!
It was shot from April till June 2004 in Thessaloniki, Greece by the company OBS, which also created a video for Tori Amos. Responsible for the video shot was Ionnis Nikolaidis.
