The story of Brazilectro began some eight years ago and, ever since, this excellent series of compilations has had aficionados of Brazilian- and Latin-American-oriented beats drooling – without any signs of losing its zest. Since their very first issue, the Brazilectro samplers have conquered the dance charts on a regular basis – which has of course inspired any number of epigones, but none of them are as convincing, and often the plagiarism has been all too obvious and the songs second-class on those rather simple chill-out accompaniments. Brazilectro has steered clear of these Copacabana clones, presenting top quality with every new release. So its no wonder that producers, remixers and bands are thoroughly delighted when one of their songs makes it onto a Brazilectro release. It’s amazing how compiler Ralf Zitzmann, a.k.a. DJ RazFaz, always succeeds in discovering the crиme de la crиme of the latest Brazilian and Latin dance floor tracks, almost totally unimpressed by the usual stars of the genre. As on his previous releases, Zitzmann has proved to have a sensational instinct for vibes and the right groove, compiled in a perfect mйlange on Brazilectro Session 10. The Agogo Records label boss really put his shoulder on the wheel for his anniversary release, unearthing for a broader audience a selection of rare numbers from the underground which previously featured exclusively in the cases of a few internationally renowned DJs, and he has split the CDs into two themes: “Cфmoda” consists of relaxed, scuffling summer tracks, while “Danзa” is set to drive its listeners to the dance floor. The number of Brazilian acts on Brazilectro has continued to increase. While initially, mainly European artists such as Jazzanova, Nicola Conte, Trьby Trio, Koop and Nuspirit Helsinki featured on these compilations, their sound is now marked by more Latin-American acts. A good thing, as the much “rawer” sound disengages Brazilectro from its former lounge/chill-out image and ups the ante. Brazilectro Session 10 – enjoy the anniversary edition!
