Since there definitely is no need to start discussing the constant relevance and impact of brazilian music on both culture and lifestyle worldwide, Brazilectro 9 again focusses on hi resolution quality cherry picking from the big big basket of „now“ music. The heavy and quite intimate flirt between original brazilian soundscapes and european club culture seems to be a never ending source of inspiration for a lot of producers from both fields. Most, if not all of the material included here by the way is professionally tested on international dancefloors by the creme of freestyle djs...
Superb and truly timeless samba and bossa driven stand out tracks by both brazil based legends (such as Marcos Valle) and / or up and coming superdarlings (like e.g. Sabrina Malheiros) as well as fresh probes from the recording studios of top notch international club and lounge music producers (e.g. Mo’ Horizons from Germany, The Dining Rooms from Italy and – with a typical trademark remix for Si*Se – Washington DC’s mighty Thievery Corporation) make Brazilectro 9 a definite must have not only for the promising summer and all the cozy open air parties that come with it.
The Brazilectro series continues to move forward by not forgetting about its roots. No matter the season and whatever the latest fashion is – Latin music, Brazilian style in particular, was there before and will be there afterwards.
The Juju Orchestra, surely one of the finest production units of the hour, has the legendary Terry Callier asking „What Is Hip?“ quite ironically on CD2 of Brazilectro 9. As usual, the answer to that very question stays the same: the quality of music makes the difference. Hipness surely is one thing – timelessness and class most definitely another. Lest we forget the constant and pretty deep melancholic happyness of this ever elevating musical style.
Brazilectro 9 holds 26 kicking examples for one simple truth: it ain’t where you’re from, it’s where you’re at! So do try this at home... whether you want to kick back or shake your booty in style and in that certain latin way, for the next two hours and more, you most certainly can. Let the sunshine in!
