“OATH BOUND” 2006 INFO:
For the eighth time, Summoning opens the gates to Middle Earth, choosing to sink deeper into its shadows: The track "Mirdautas Vras" is sung completely in the black tongue - the language of the orcs! Those who dream of a return to Tolkien's incomparable universe, should not be without this latest release [!]
Vienna based Black Metal venture. A productive side project of ABIGOR vocalist / bassist Silenius (a.k.a. Michael Gregor) founded during 1993, SUMMONING's debut album is a conceptual Black Metal orchestral slant on Tolkein's 'Lord Of The Rings'. The project had debuted with two tracks included on a split demo entitled 'The Urilia Text' shared with PAZUZU. The 'Anno Mortiri Domini 1959' and 'Upon The Viking Stallion' sessions followed in 1994.
For the March 1995 'Lugburz' album, released through Napalm Records, SUMMONING reworked the 'Anno Mortiri Domini 1959' demo tracks 'Tales from the Northern Forest' and 'Dark Age' to evolve into 'Where Winters Forever Cry' and 'Flight Of The Nazgul'.
Drummer Trifixion (Alexander Trondl) announced that the music was not aggressive enough for his liking and promptly left after the debut, forging his own act TRIFIXION in 1995 and releasing the 'The First And Last Commandment' album. Trifixion also involved himself with other acts PAZUZU and WEREWOLF. Meantime, SUMMONING was joined by new member, ex-GRABESMOND and PAZUZU member Protector (Richard Lederer).
SUMMONING would demo again in August 1995, generating the entirely instrumental 'Minas Morgul' cassette. Napalm issued an album of the same name that October. The 1996 follow up would recorded at Hornix Studio and launched as Dol Guldur in 1996. In June of 1997 remaining tracks from the 'Dol Guldur' recordings would see issue as the 'Nightshade Forests' mini-album.
SUMMONING's next full-length opus, Stronghold', was delivered in May 1999. Notably featured would be Tania Borsky of DIE VERBANNTEN KINDER EVA'S as guest vocalist on the song 'Where Hope And Daylight Die'. The group took on further epic inspiration of 'Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame' in October 2001.
Silenius has an outside interest in KREUZWEG OST with HOLLENTHON man Martin Shirenc. A further offshoot emerged in 2000 when Protector and Silenius forged ICE AGES. Silenius joined ST. LUCIFER in late 2003.
