Dust is the 3rd album of the trilogy which began with JOURNEY'S END (2010) and INVICTA (2012).
THE ENID has been a mainstay on the PROGRESSIVE ROCK circuit since 1974, with founding member ROBERT JOHN GODFREY also having success as the composer for BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST and other solo releases.
The album features JOE PAYNE, voted BEST MALE VOCALIST in the Prog Magazine Readers Poll 2014. ROBERT JOHN GODFREY was recently presented with the VISIONARY AWARD at the PROGRESSIVE MUSIC AWARDS 2014.
The album's release is supported by an extensive UK theatre tour, building on the success of THE BRIDGE tour in early 2015, described as an experience that lives way beyond the confines of this time, this space. It's The Enid entering the most enticing, engaging and engrossing phase of their career, says MALCOLM DOME,PROG MAGAZINE.
It's been close to four decades since THE ENID released their pivotal debut album, In the Region of the Summer Stars . In 1976, at a time when the new wave of Punk was about to change the music industry forever, The Enid began a movement of their own.Winning over punks with politically incorrect covers of Wild Thing and Land of Hope and Glory , The Enid's early music was largely instrumental and more Classical and Romantic in nature than other rock music. The Enid later made history with their 1983 release Something Wicked This Way Comes, becoming the first ever band to become entirely self-funded through their fan club, The Stand. The band continue with this same pioneering crowd-funding system today, running an independent record label (Operation Seraphim) funded by their own private arts council, The Enidi. The band are currently enjoying a period of creative rejuvenation, having completed their fourteenth studio album DUST, hot on the heels of THE BRIDGE, released earlier this year. DUST completes a trilogy that began in 2010 with JOURNEY'S END, followed by the critically acclaimed 2012 album INVICTA.
26 year old front man JOE PAYNE proves beyond reasonable doubt that he fully deserved his 2014 title of Best Male Vocalist in Prog. The star singer shows off his impressive 5 octave range a range only previously matched by Axel Rose and a young Mariah Carey.
DUST showcases THE ENID as they are now, distancing themselves from all preconceptions relating to their history as an instrumental entity.Though the album is punctuated with the classical signature stylings of Robert John Godfrey, the album as a whole showcases THE ENID as a reinvigorated vibrant group anchored in the now, rather than the past.
