The Scorpions have always been an amazing live band, probably one of the best in the world. Their performances are highly intense, electrifying and full of magical moments. They do rock you like a hurricane and many of their greatest songs only reveal their full potential when the band performs them in front of an audience. The idea behind WORLD WIDE LIVE, the Scorpions' second live recording after TOKYO TAPES (1978), was to catch the band at their peak. The live recording was just one part of a project that centred around a filmed documentary that showed the band on stage ans also shed a light on their life as a touring rock band. The film crew followed the band around the US, Asia, Europe and South America and managed to capture the essence of the band, thus creating one of the best live- and concert documentaries ever.
For the live album, they recorded five shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Paris and Cologne. The recordings capture the incredible atmosphere at Scorpions concerts and demonstrate the apparent ease with which the band manages to completely captivate their audiences. The setlists featured the very best pieces from their past four albums, and the way they performed the songs on stage adds an extra dimension of power, roughness and emotion to them. WORLD WIDE LIVE was first released on 20 June 1985. The album charted all over Europe, North- and South America and Asia and should consequently become one of the biggest selling live albums ever.
To celebrate their 50th band anniversary, the Scorpions are releasing a CD/DVD Deluxe Edition of WORLD WIDE LIVE. The high quality Digipack includes the newly remastered original album track list.
The DVD comprises of the complete documentary and of an exclusive interview in which the musicians talk about the making of WORLD WIDE LIVE.
An extensive 16 page booklet rounds the package off. It features liner notes written by Edgar Klüsener, a former editor of Germany's Metal Hammer.
The Double LP comes in an original replica version with the CD in paper sleeve incl. all bonus tracks and the original poster.
