- High Roller Records, reissue 2022, blue w/ gold + red splatter vinyl, ltd 250, lyric sheet printed on uncoated paper.
Hot on the trails of »Shotgun Justice«, High Roller Records is happy to announce the re-release of »Open Hostility«. »Open Hostility« was the follow-up album to »Shotgun Justice« (the first Razor album featuring new singer Bob Reid who had replaced Stace McLaren, aka Sheepdog). »Open Hostility« was originally released only on CD in 1991 via Fist Fight Records. The limited High Roller edition marks the first-ever vinyl issue of this immortal Thrash Metal classic. The album contains twelve brutal Thrash assaults including tracks such as “Sucker for Punishment”, “Psychopath” or the anthemic “Iron Legions”.
(Mostly) all original classic Canadian Metal acts from the 1980s did possess a very unique sound. Think of Anvil or Exciter. Razor are no exception.
On »Open Hostility« Dave Carlo and his boys don’t sound like your average American Thrash band by any stretch of the imagination. In the very early days Motörhead and the guitar playing of Raven's Mark Gallagher were an important influence on Razor. Dave Carlo: ”I do think Canadian bands have an unique sound. I’m not sure I can put my finger on what that is exactly but I do think a Canadian band has to have a certain aspect of individuality. I’m not saying that there aren’t some great American bands because there are. But I think that the prominent Canadian Speed or Thrash Metal bands that we know of do have very unique and individual sounds. Bands like Anvil, bands like Exciter, bands like VoiVod, Piledriver, Razor and of course Sacrifice, very good friends of ours from Toronto.”
