Michael Trempenau was born in Denmark, and grew up in Vesterbro with his mother and two brothers, Dennis and Kim. Mike started his musical career singing in a youth group club in Copenhagen called Vesterbro Ungdomsgеrd, and appears on their first album: Vi lever pе Vesterbro (1974). Later, he joined the pop band Mabel, as the lead singer. They recorded four albums and were very popular in Denmark and Spain, with Mike receiving "teen idol" status. In 1978 Mabel won the Danish Song Contest with the song Boom Boom and represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest that year. Mabel moved to New York City and became the Studs in the late 1970s, but then soon broke up.
After the demise of Mabel, Tramp met Vito Bratta and formed White Lion in 1983, the band became very successful in the mid 80's to early 90's. White Lion released their debut album Fight to Survive in 1985. The band achieved success with their #8 hit "Wait" and #3 hit "When the Children Cry" from their second album, the double platinum selling Pride. The band continued their success with their third album, Big Game which achieved Gold status and their fourth album Mane Attraction which included a supporting tour.
White Lion disbanded in 1992 and not long after their first compilation album The Best of White Lion was released. Later Mike went on to form Freak Of Nature which he released two successful bands with. Shortly after he focused fully on his solo carrier. “Cobblestone Street” is Mike’s 7th solo album since “Capricorn” from 1998.
“When I recorded my first solo album in 1996, away from White Lion and Freak Of Nature, the most important thing was to sound like me, be me, and for the fans to know it was me, Mike Tramp when he is by himself”, says Mike Tramp.
With "Cobblestone Street" I have returned home to my childhood and first guitar lessons in the youth club, where my teacher raised me on Bob Dylan and Neil Young and told me to always be true to myself. From the first words of “Cobblestone Street” where I take the listener through the streets where I grew up, to "Caught In The Storm" where my aching soul is looking for peace and resolution. In "New Day" there's a glimpse of hope, while in "Ain't The Life I Asked For" I am looking back at where this life have brought me. "Revolution" speaks of how much people talk about change, but what little they do about it. As the album ends with "Once" the listener is given the key into the life of Mike Tramp's soul.
This is my 21st album, and I tell you, that this is my most honest and personal album. Everything on this album is about Mike Tramp the writer and artist, and about the boy who took a chance in 1976 and went out into the world to live a rock'n'roll life and paid a big the price for it.”
