Starting in October of 2012, EMI will be issuing an ongoing series of special limited edition Iron Maiden BLACK vinyl albums. Comprised of the first eight albums of Iron Maiden's career, all released in the 1980's, each picture disc will be packaged in a gatefold cover with full color printed inner sleeves and pressed on heavyweight vinyl cut from the original album master tapes. These vinyl picture discs are being released to commemorate Iron Maiden's current Maiden England tour which comprises largely 80’s material.

The albums will be released chronologically between October of 2012 and February of 2013, starting with Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981) in October, followed by The Number of the Beast (1982) and Piece Of Mind (1983) in November. To open the new year Powerslave (1984) and Live After Death (1985) will be released in January, while the final two titles, Somewhere In Time (1986) and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988) will close out the series in February.

1982's The Number of the Beast is Iron Maiden's landmark third studio album, the debut of vocalist Bruce Dickinson, and final release with original drummer Clive Burr. Universally regarded as one of the best heavy metal albums of all-time, the unrelenting 8-song set was the band's first to reach #1 in the UK thanks to the hit singles "Run to the Hills" and "The Number of the Beast." The album also saw Iron Maiden officially takeover the heavy metal mantle from contemporaries Judas Priest with a streak of seven consecutive platinum and/or gold albums in the United States.
