Starting in October of 2012, Parlophone will be issuing an ongoing series of special limited edition Iron Maiden BLACK vinyl albums. Comprised of the first eight albums of Iron Maiden's career, all released in the 1980's, each picture disc will be packaged in a gatefold cover with full color printed inner sleeves and pressed on heavyweight vinyl cut from the original album master tapes. These vinyl picture discs are being released to commemorate Iron Maiden's current Maiden England tour which comprises largely 80’s material.

The albums will be released chronologically between October of 2012 and February of 2013, starting with Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981) in October, followed by The Number of the Beast (1982) and Piece Of Mind (1983) in November. To open the new year Powerslave (1984) and Live After Death (1985) will be released in January, while the final two titles,Somewhere In Time (1986) and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988) will close out the series in February.

The 1988 concept album Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son is appropriately Iron Maiden's seventh full-length album, their last in a long line of groundbreaking metal albums from the 1980's. Based in European folklore, the supernatural 8-song set was the band's second to debut at #1 in the U.K. after 1982's The Number of the Beast and produced no less than four Top Ten singles with "Can I Play with Madness," "The Evil That Men Do," "The Clairvoyant," and "Infinite Dreams." Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son marked the end of an era for Iron Maiden, one that the rest of heavy metal and even the band themselves haven't been able to live up to ever since!
