Born and raised in Canada, legendary guitarist Pat Travers has combined his love of the blues with the inspiration of British-based groups such as Cream and The Yardbirds to forge a career of powerful blues-rock music. Like his idol Jimi Hendrix, Travers re-located to London at an early age and, like Hendrix before him, was signed to Polydor Records.

Following his 1976 self-titled debut, he went on to release classic albums such as “Makin’ Magic”, “Putting It Straight”, “Heat In The Street” and “Crash And Burn” as well as 1979’s incendiary live album “Go For What You Know”. This live album is the cornerstone of our releases included here in its entirety. As an aural document of a great rock band in its live element and firing on all cylinders it is damn near impossible to beat! It therefore also represents Pat Travers classic years in the best possible way. As well the eight hard-rockin’ tracks that make up “Go For What You Know”, “8+8: Best Of ’77-‘80” also features a further eight superb s*itkickin’studio cuts, including the major American radio hit Snortin’Whiskey and Travers’ funky cover of Bob Marley’s Is This Love.
