Arthemis, band formed in 1994 which combines the darker side of hard rock with prog/power influences and a modern touch of top-quality heavy/thrash metal, has just signed a deal with Scarlet Records. Since their inception in the scene, Arthemis released four well-received albums which made them one of the prominent names in the european metal scene, building up a solid fan-base in countries like Japan and touring the world with celebrated names such as Slayer, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall, Within Temptation and Cradle Of Filth, among others.
Endeavouring to pursue an original sound the band set about fusing neo-classical European styles with the aggression of American Speed Metal. After numerous line up shuffles the group stabilised somewhat in 1998 and in 1999 they laid down their debut album ‘Church Of The Holy Ghost’. In March 2000 Arthemis signed a deal with Underground Symphony to re-issue ‘Church Of The Holy Ghost’. The album would sell so fast that the label put the band back in the studio to record an extra track, a version of Stratovarius’ tune ‘Shattered’, to add as a bonus for a subsequent digi pack version. Another strong effort, ‘The Damned Ship’, followed in 2002. A couple of years later vocalist Alessio Garavello and guitarist Andrea Martongelli also hold down positions in the British based Symphonic Metal band Power Quest. But Arthemis remained their biggest priority and two more metal masterpieces were on their way, ‘Golden Dawn’ (2003) and ‘Back From The Heat’ (2005). Japanese versions of the ‘Golden Dawn’ album added a cover version of the Kiss classic ‘Love Gun’. ‘Back From The Heat’, featuring renowed producer/musician Luigi Stefanini guesting on keyboards, saw a Japanese issue through Avalon Marquee including Twisted Sisters’ ‘I Wanna Rock.
Three years passed by and finally 2008 will see Arthemis releasing their fifth, long-waited album ‘Black Society’, which worlwide press have already described as the band’s masterpiece. Combining each of the four members’ strong musicianship and musical influences, ‘Black Society’ will be released in July on Scarlet records, with an exception for the Japanese license through Soundholic Records. Every fan of Helloween, Edguy, Yngwie Malmsteen, Megadeth and Iron Maiden should not miss it!
