The history of Human Fortress goes back to the year 1997 when bassist Pablo J. Tammen and Gitarrist Torsten Wolf after a newspaper advert in a Hannover city magazine had met with guitarist Volker Trost and a fellow drummer. The band was completed with the addition of a female singer under the name Timezone and the band recorded their first demo. The demo was never released though as this line up didn’t last. The band decided not to continue with a female singer and found a new vocalist with Jioti Parcharidis. With him in the band the guys entered the ‘Airport Studio’ in Hannover in 1999 not only to record a new demo but also change the band’s name to Human Fortress. The Demo CD got a tremendous feedback and a couple of labels expressed their interest in the band. In Summer 2000 already the debut album was recorded at ‘Area 51 Studio’ in Celle with producer TOMMY NEWTON (Victory). Early 2001 Human Fortress took part in an international competition in a big German metal magazine for the best newcomer band and the song ‘The Dragons Lair’ was released on a compilation CD and was voted on rank 1 by the readers on the internet. Many record labels got aware of this and the band signed with Limb Music Products. Th debut album “Lord of earth and heavens heir” was highly acclaimed by both press and metal fans and marked an excellent start.

End of 2002 the band parted ways with their label Limb Music Products. In February 2003 alredy the band signed a new publishing deal with AMV-Talpha and looked out for a new label, After negotiations with some labels Human Fortress decided to sign with Massacre Records who released their 2nd album „Defenders Of The Crown“. Due to a baby boom in the bandmembers’ families the band had to do a break from 2003 to 2006. Guitarist Volker Trost and drummer Apostelos Zaios had to leave the band due to private reasons. Singer Jioti Parcharidis had to quit his job with HUMAN FORTRESS beause of his health problems . With the addition of guitarist Frank Sawade, drummer Arndt Krone and singer Carsten Frank (former GALLOGLASS) the limne up was completed again. The band used the time to build and complete their own WAVELAND Studio in Hannover and the 3rd album „Eternal Empire“ was recorded there with producer Carsten Frank.
