Brujeria is a death-grind band. Their name comes from a Spanish word meaning "witchcraft". Their Satanic, narcotic, and masked attitude have been their passport to success, although they have recently performed live at locations across the United States and Latin America. Their songs, which are sung entirely in Spanish, are focused on Satanism, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, narcotics smuggling, politics and also include lyrics about killing Whites. Brujeria are admittedly a side-project of founding member and Asesino stalwart Dino Cazares, and has featured artists such as Billy Gould, Nicholas Barker, Raymond Herrera, Jeff Walker, and Shane Embury. They perform under pseudonyms and portray themselves as a Latino band consisting of drug lords, concealing their identities due to being wanted by the FBI. Their lineup has changed over time, however, and could be different at any point in time. Dino Cazares and Nicholas Barker quit Brujeria on January 26, 2004. Brujeria have recently resurfaced with two new members and will begin touring soon. Asesino's band is still going strong, and Asesino himself describes the band as the new Brujeria, because he claims that Juan Brujo was the reason Brujeria demised. Despite their unconventional career thus far, Brujeria have built a large fan base within the metal underground. Brujeria are tentatively scheduled to release their fourth full-length studio album sometime in 2007, but details about it are unknown. Matando Gueros is the first album from the band Brujeria, which talks mostly about killing "Americans" (whites mostly) and crossing the border. "Gьero" is a Mexican Spanish slang term for a pale-skinned or blonde-haired person, often used as a slur. The album was banned in many places due to its cover and content, the front cover depicts a person out of shot holding up a decapitated head. Track 16 to 19 are taken from the Machetazos single. "Matando Gьeros" is one of the songs to the Gummo soundtrack. Raza Odiada is the name of an album by Brujeria. Brujeria's main concept is Satanic, anti-Christian, pro-sex, pro-immigration, pro-narcotics smuggling, and political. "Raza Odiada" (which translates in English as "Hated Race") is a critic song to Pete Wilson and his opposition to illegal immigration (Prop 187) and to racial preferences (Prop 209), this song also features ex-Dead Kennedys vocalist Jello Biafra as the voice of Pete Wilson. "La Migra" is a song about illegal immigration and corruption. "Revoluciуn" is a pro - EZLN song. "Consejos Narcos" is a song about narcotics. It features three tracks originally appeared on the 7" singles El Patron (El Patron and Hermanos Menendez) and ЎMachetazos! (Padre Nuestro) on Alternative Tentacles Records. The cover features a photograph of Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos the spokesperson and one of its main leaders for the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN).
