Megadeth is the new self-titled album from the Thrash legends and will be released on January 23, 2026. The band has announced that they plan to disband after the album’s release and a farewell tour in 2026 – making this their final album.

Dave Mustaine has now confirmed the rumor that he's recorded a version of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" for Megadeth's upcoming self-titled final album. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he shared, “I think the whole purpose of this was not to try and rekindle relationships or anything. It was about showing respect to a man [James Hetfield] that… I don’t believe he thinks I respect him and I wanted to make that clear.”

Though the band just revealed their 10-song track list for the album, it's expected that "Ride the Lightning" will appear as a bonus track.
