Oslo retro styled Black Metal act KHOLD came into being during 2000. The band employs experienced musicians from acts such as SENSA ANIMA, WINDS and OLD MAN'S CHILD. Drummer Sarke and bassist Lars Eikind (a.k.a. Lars Eric Si) are also members of TULUS. KHOLD's inaugural demo session secured a deal with the Moonfog label for the April 2001 release 'Masterpiss Of Pain', a record whose lyrics were all in 18th century Norwegian. KHOLD set about promoting the release on a European tour alongside CARPATHIAN FOREST and BEHEMOTH but would pull out of these shows.
In 2003 KHOLD bassist Lars Eikund was to be found as a member of AGE OF SILENCE alongside BORKNAGAR and SOLEFALD man Lazare and the notorious MAYHEM, WINDS and ARCTURUS drummer Hellhammer. Following a Scandinavian and European tour as support to SATYRICON the band, having added new bassist Grimd, commenced work on the follow up album 'Morke Gravers Kammer'. The band employed noted Norwegian photographer Marcel Lelienhof, renowned for his popular culture shots, to create the artistic landscape for the record as well as direct the promotional video for the track ‘Dod’.
Lars Eikind would join the Tuomas Saukkonen led BEFORE THE DAWN as frontman in early 2005. KHOLD switched labels to Tabu Recordings in June. The group announced a European tour with HYPOCRISY and EXODUS for November but subsequently withdrew, citing "some unfortunate problems".
