Superbly and powerfully played by the pair of twin guitars, Didier Delsaux's voice and smart lyrics, remind the best moments of Sortilege, but this does not make Manigance sound as one of the 80's nostalgic bands. The album's sound, the structure of the compositions, the approach to the arrangements can easily compete with anything which is best at the moment in the melodic or progressive heavy metal. With the eleven tracks of 'Ange ou Demon' (+ the Sortilege cover), Manigance shows that interpreting texts in French is not at all an obstacle in performing a first class hard rock. On the contrary, like their 'glorious elderly' in their time, the band knew how to bring that 'French touch' to their music, which might make a difference in a world where sometimes one cannot make a real distinction between Americans, Swedish or Germans.
