Noise Records continue their re-issues with the British heavy metal band Skyclad notable for their heavy folk influences and considered one of the pioneers of folk metal genre.

The etymology behind the term “skyclad” comes from a pagan/wiccan term for ritual nudity, in which rituals are performed with the participants metaphorically clad only by the sky, as a sign of equality. The name alludes both to the band’s religious leanings and to their social beliefs, as set out in the song “Skyclad” on their first album.

A Burnt Offering For The Bone Idol 1CD & LP
Skyclad’s sophomore album, released in 1992 saw the band pushing the boundaries and experimenting with mixing the metal and folk styles further. It still has the thrashy elements of its predecessor but the blending of traditional folk instruments and arrangements are more prominent on songs like the album defining ‘Spinning Jenny’. A Burnt Offering For The Bone Idol was the band developing and growing further and defining the folk metal genre along the way.
