GORGUTS was formed in 1989 by Luc Lemay ( vocals and guitar ), Sylvain Marcoux ( guitar ), �ric Gigu�re ( bass guitar ) and Stephane Provencher ( drums ). They released their first demo "...And Then Comes Lividity", in 1990 which led them to be signed to Roadrunner Records.Their first album, ''Considered Dead'', had guest appearances by James Murphy ( guitar solo on "Inoculated Life" ) and Chris Barnes ( backing vocals on "Bodily Corrupted", "Rottenatomy" and "Hematological Allergy" ).

The band has had a monumental impact on the scene with their willingness to experiment with progressive song structures and interesting jazz elements in their music. . It is generally acknowledged that the band has scarcely put a foot wrong throughout their career . Of their releases to date their debut "Considered Dead" is the most straightforward death metal album they have recorded and is an album that is synonymous with "fantastically executed death metal ".

In 1993, they released their second album, which was more experimental and technical, titled "The Erosion of Sanity". From the demonic vocals and crushing riffs of the first track, to the completely insane atonal riffing that coincides with the simply extravagent piano piece of introduction of track 2 ( which also reappears in a slightly jumbled up manner, along with the guitars ), this really is completely insane music, but at the same time, marvellously technical. Both records have become legendary and much sought after in the death metal genre, now re-released on coloured vinyl ( for the first time ) and digipacks !
