Mama’s Boys from Northern Ireland ditched their Irish folk acoustic instruments for electric guitars to become a successful 80’s hard rock/heavy metal group. The boys built up a big enough following that led to them signing a major deal that acquired them airplay across the Atlantic. By 1984, they were touring in the U.S. alongside the hairmetal bands of the day.

The three McManus brothers Pat,”The Professor" (guitar), John (bass and vocals), Tommy (drums) were one of Phil Lynott’s favourite bands, they were to tour with what was Thin Lizzy’s last performances with Phil.

The band released several albums during the ’80s, Plug It In, Turn It Up, Mama’s Boys, Power and Passion and Growing Up The Hard Way.

Power and Passion released in 1985 came out at a time when the band was at its height, and took them to even higher levels than anyone anticipated.
