“With "OKKULT" we want to start a very special album trilogy! The previous release was an in-depth documentary "Die Gottlosen Jahre" on DVD that covered our 25 year long career and the film will be shown at international film festivals. This is reason enough to begin a new era of ATROCITY. In terms of the music, we won’t make any prisoners! "OKKULT" will be heavy, bombastic, but also bleak at the same time. The trilogy will not only consist of the most brutal and heaviest ATROCITY albums in years, but also the darkest longplayers in our history. Worshippers of our heavy stuff like "Hallucinations", "Todessehnsucht", "Blut" or "Atlantis" will love "OKKULT", although the new material has its own character”, comments vocalist and producer Alex Krull. The latest ATROCITY opus "OKKULT" is the start of an album trilogy, that has never been seen before in the metal scene! ATROCITY show a musical diversity and deliver a powerful, homogeneous and atmospheric album. On the one hand the band utilizes lots of bombast and big choirs, while on the other hand ATROCITY offers pure, heavy, and authentic Metal songs that will get under the listeners skin. All elements of the sound are in perfect harmony. The fulminant production has a sweeping quality and gives the songs the necessary power, atmosphere and brutality. Thus, it is possible to dive right into the lyrical concept. The concept is more than one-dimensional: The lyrics concern itself with occult magic, mysterious places, to conspiracy theories and unsolved mysteries. John Milton’s visions of "Pandжmonium" become reality. "Death By Metal", a mysterious story of long gone times, is ATROCITY’s homage to their musical roots and at the same time their band hymn. The band takes the listener to a haunted castle in Scotland with "Haunted By Demons", and brings (brings – delete?) the ancient necromancer Erictho back to life in "Necromancy Divine". Erictho will be also the cover motif for "OKKULT". "Masaya(Boca Del Inferno)" will open the gates of hell with brute force. The epic "When Empires Fall To Dust" tells about the mystic prophecies of a mysterious French freemason in the times of World War I. Never in music history the ides of march were better staged as in "Murder Blood Assassination" and the myths about the Antarctic never sounded more bombastic as on "Beyond Perpetual Ice". As the final song, the witch and poisoner "La Voisine" haunts 17th century Paris, which is the perfect seeting for a smashing, evil metal song by ATROCITY. The finishing touches for the gloomy atmosphere of "OKKULT" were provided by the Canadian sound designer Katie Halliday (known for acclaimed work on movies like "Saw V", "Saw VI", "Saw 3D (VII)", "The Devilґs Carnival" or "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil". She received numerous awards for her outstanding craft. The orchestral parts were recorded in Minsk with the "LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA" with Victor Smolski (RAGE) as the conductor. Besides all the heaviness and bombast, ATROCITY are demonstrating their excellent intuition for nice and catchy songs and wrote a real clubhit with the catchy "Satans Braut". “We had a very special idea for our fans: There will be no conventional bonus track on the "OKKULT" albums! Therefore, the fans will be have an active role in the global treasure hunt for "OKKULT". On every release, one song – the "hidden track" so to speak – will be hidden in an "occult place". On the first "OKKULT" album this will happen in Europe. We will destroy all the original recording tracks and mixes, which means that we, the band, are not able to hear these tracks again until they have been found. That means, they will be unique, in the true sense of the word”, explains Alex Krull the very first global Metal treasure hunt ever! The first hints for the "Metal goes Geocaching" are hidden in the booklet of the Limited Edition Digipak and in the iTunes version. With a numerical code, the ATROCITY fan will get to know the codeword for entering the treasure hunt on the ATROCITY website. The codeword is the title of the hidden track and at the same moment the first hint for the hiding place. "OKKULT" can be viewed from every angle as a very special ATROCITY album!
