Ugly Noise is the eleventh studio album by Phoenix, AZ thrashers Flotsam and Jetsam. In order to make the album, Flotsam and Jetsam utilized PledgeMusic, encouraging their fans to contribute funds to its recording. Members of Flotsam and Jetsam donated a portion of the proceeds to Children’s Miracle Network, which helps as many children as possible by raising funds for local children’s hospitals. Ugly Noise marked the first Flotsam and Jetsam album recorded with two returning original members; Michael Gilbert (guitar) and Kelly David Smith (drums) since 1997's High. Coupled with original vocalist Erik AK and original guitarist Erik Carlson and longtime bassist Jason Ward, the line up for UGLY NOISE is the most compelling Flots line up in sixteen years. Original bassist Jason Newsted (x-Metallica) also co-wrote some songs for the album, but did not officially rejoin the band.

With a new album under their belt, Flots performed in early February 2013 on the 70000 Tons of Metal Cruise with LACUNA COIL, KREATOR, HOLY GRAIL, IN FLAMES, LIZZY BORDEN, DRAGONFORCE and more. After the 70000 Tons of Metal Cruise, Flotsam and Jetsam met up with Bay area thrash metal giants TESTAMENT and OVERKILL for a U.S. tour throughout February.
