Don Airey has contributed to some of the most important rock albums of all time, including Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Blizzard Of Ozz’ and ‘Diary Of A Madman’, ‘Down To Earth’ by Rainbow, Whitesnake’s ‘1987’ – the latter one of the genre’s biggest sellers of all time.

It’s probably quicker to cite rare examples of household names that the Sunderland-born keyboard wizard hasn’t had the pleasure of playing with than to list the credits that he’s notched so far, though the latter category includes Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Brian May of Queen, Colosseum II, Judas Priest, the supergroup Living Loud, Babe Ruth, Gary Moore, UFO, Michael Schenker, Colin Blunstone, Company Of Snakes, a latter incarnation of the Electric Light Orchestra, Katrina & The Waves and even Andrew Lloyd Webber.

More recently, Don Airey has been a full-time member of Deep Purple since replacing Jon Lord in January 2003, playing on the legendary band’s ‘Bananas’ and ‘Rapture Of The Deep’ albums and enjoying successful worldwide tours.

On February 25, 2009 Airey steps into the spotlight’s full glare as his second solo album, ‘A Light In The Sky’, is released via Mascot Records. Twenty years have slipped by since ‘K2: Tales Of Triumph And Tragedy’, a mountaineering-themed debut that featured special guests Chris Thompson, the late and extremely great Cozy Powell, Colin Blunstone, Laurence Cottle and esteemed former TV newsreader Gordon Honeycombe.
