When progressive rock boomed in the Seventies, Gentle Giant was rated alongside such contemporaries as King Crimson and Yes.
Acquiring The Taste’ was the Giant’s second album, first released on Vertigo in 1971. It has eight tracks written and performed by founder members Derek and Ray Shulman (vocals, guitars), previously known for their former soul band Simon Dupree And The Big Sound. Among the highlights of the album are such arrangements as ‘Pantagruel’s Nativity’, and ‘Edge Of Twilight’, which typify the Giant’s blend of hard rock and the classics.
A splendid reminder of the glory days, when bands believed in creating challenging music.
